Hi Al~So happy you read my blog and posted a great comment! You and I have have shared many the same frustrations watching businesses fail because they did not work their marketing and advertising in to the cost of starting and maintaining their business. Thanks so much for posting! ~ Charlene :)

As a "Cold Call' Independent Contractor of advertising for over 30 years, I can't count the number of start-up businesses with the 'Grand Opening' sign in window, that have not planned a advertising budget > Ouch. They tell me "I don't need to advertise." "Word of mouth works for me." "I have newspaper ad when I need it."
Case in point = Shaw's Plaza in Beverly. How many businesses have come and gone in shops around Radio Shack? I can tell you that I offered them all the opportunity to put their ad right into the hands of every shopper at the Shaw's across the plaza. Nope. They are in a busy plaza and they have a sign. And the newspaper is good enough. How many drivers are reading signs as they look for a parking spot or are leaving the parking lot rushing home? None. My motto; "Advertising doesn't cost, it pays." Do it again and again and again. Repetition is the key to successful ad campaign. You see that on TV all the time. How many times do you have to tell somebody to do something before they finally do it? Invest in your business goes beyond opening the door.
